Cheltenham Literature Festival is coming!
This perennially popular festival is back again from 6th to 15th October. Cheltenham is only a 20 min drive from the Barn and our advice is to drive to the racecourse Park & Ride and either walk or bus in from there. We go most years and have seen writers from Jeremy Paxman to John Cleese. We used to love the Poetry Slam, which is sadly no more but has been replaced this year by ‘Pundemonium’, where ‘guest pundits including writers, performers, comedians and poets compete alongside members of the public in a hilarious game show full of punishing linguistic challenges’. We will have to try it!
The Festival Village is full of activities, many of them free. Try a Lit Crawl or if you are night birds, the after hours Festival Club.
There are plenty of places to eat in the Festival Village, including a variety of Street Food traders selling cuisine from around the world. This year you can enjoy your food under the festival’s brand new picnic canopy, ideal in case of sun or rain!
